A two-minute read.
Busy and fulfilled are measured by different things. Busy counts how much is on your plate. Fulfilled depends on whether your time is going to something you care about. A week can be completely full of the first and have none of the second in it.
Something is getting all your attention. Usually it is whatever is loudest: a deadline, a boss, a customer, a family calendar, a list that keeps growing. Those things have dates on them, so they win.
The things you care about mostly have no date. Nobody is waiting on them this afternoon, so they wait, and the waiting does not feel like a decision. It just feels like a busy week, and then another one.
The first one is easy and usually has a ready answer. The second one is the one that matters. If you pause before you answer it, pay attention to what comes up. What is being sacrificed is often something you already know you care about. Nobody had to hand you a worksheet to find it. It took somebody asking.
Start with what you will not trade away, no matter what. That is the short list of things your time should be going to, and it is yours, not a list of eighty words someone handed you.
Then pick one small thing for today that gives a little back to what is being sacrificed. It has to fit the time, energy, body and money you actually have this week. A walk around the block after lunch counts. "Work on my health" does not, because it is a category and not an action.
A rest day counts too. A hard day handled gently counts. Nothing here is a test you can fail.
Lanthorn begins with one prompt, pasted into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, whichever you already use. It asks five questions one at a time, including the two above, suggests your three core values in your own words, and writes your first small move for today. It takes about ten minutes, and there is no app to install.
